Gradual growth confirms the success of the strategy
In 1990, the first company expansion took place, and a branch was established in the Czech Republic, specifically in Olomouc, the historic center of Moravia. Less than nine years after its opening, the production plant had to be enlarged due to booming sales. In addition, in 2001, the group's headquarters and development center were rebuilt in Dietach. However, the most significant expansion took place in 2017. The plant in Olomouc was completely renovated and significantly expanded. With over 13,000 m² of production space in Olomouc and 5,000 m² in Dietach, weba has positioned itself as the largest European toolmaking company in the industry. In order to serve its customers with downstream joining techniques, including complete welding groups, weba acquired a majority stake in Gatzsch Schweißtechnik GmbH in the city of Attendorn in southern Sauerland, Germany, in 2021. With a production area of approximately 1,000 m², the expert team develops and manufactures joining systems, special welding machines, tools and fixtures, as well as complex robot welding systems.
Active participation in the lightweight construction trend in the automotive industry
weba has delivered exceptional pioneering achievements in forming technology and was one of the first toolmaking companies to successfully produce hot forming tools that revolutionized global automotive lightweight construction and represent essential components of the current leadership role in the industry segment. Hot forming is a process that, thanks to the use of higher-strength steels, achieves the required weight reduction while providing good crash resistance. Hot-formed components are used in safety-critical and load-bearing areas of vehicles.
Modern methods for seamless control of the forming process
The desire to ensure high production readiness over the years has led to the continuous automation of production facilities and extensive digitization of the company. Presently, weba, in cooperation with the Linz-based software development company Meprotec GmbH, markets an unparalleled product for the digital monitoring of the entire forming process. In combination with a SmartTool from weba, detailed real-time production analyses regarding component quality, process parameters, energy consumption, etc., and even meaningful maintenance and optimization forecasts are possible.
Transition to a complete provider
Driven by fascination with tackling technical challenges and the determination to offer uncompromising quality, the product and service portfolio has been continuously expanded. weba has evolved from a small Austrian toolmaking company into a renowned brand in the automotive forming technology. Today, weba is known for its unique complete solutions for manufacturing processes of metallic forming. The product portfolio of this global player is diverse and includes tool manufacturing, part production, gauge and fixture construction, as well as services in process development and joining and welding technology.
Well-trained specialists are the foundation of company success
The aforementioned achievements are mainly based on the high technical and problem-solving competence of the technology-driven team at weba. A creative development team and experienced professionals work together to create pioneering concepts. Currently, 300 people are employed at the three production locations. The transfer of knowledge in in-house training centers is considered an important success criterion for the sustainable development of the company. In tailor-made training programs, apprentices learn practical knowledge in toolmaking and machining technology. Up to five young talents per location are accepted annually.
